Rohit, Kohli can't stop laughing after

(Aug 03), While replays showed the umpire was incorrect to call the Sri Lankan batter not out, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could not contain their laughter.

In the series opener at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, India captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli could not contain their joy when they saw on the enormous screen that Sri Lanka batter Janith Liyanage was not out. However, the young player chose to walk even though the on-field umpire had given him not out at first.

The incident took place in the 35th over of Sri Lanka’s innings during the second delivery. Liyanage went for a big heave after India’s left-arm spinner Axar Patel got one to grip and turn. When the ball violently twisted, it fell into Rohit’s hands as he stood at first slip. Umpire Joel Wilson dismissed an appeal from the Indian fielders, shaking his head.

India vs Sri Lanka Live Score 1st ODI

Rohit and Kohli shared a happy moment with Axar Patel when the replays were displayed on the enormous screen. After almost nine months apart, both of the star hitters are playing in ODI cricket again. Since India’s heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad last year, they have not played an ODI since.

Following India’s World Cup victory in Barbados in June, both Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from T20 international cricket. On Tuesday, the team won that format series 3-0 in Sri Lanka, led by Suryakumar Yadav, who is not on the 50-over squad.

Dunith Wellalage and Pathum Nissanka’s composed 50s contributed to Sri Lanka’s respectable 230 for 8 total. Due to conditions that are heavily biased in favor of slow bowlers, the total is higher than it appears on board. Wellalage scored seven fours and two sixes in his 67 not out off 65 balls.

Out of 75 balls, Nissanka made 56. Along with wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (1/33 in 10 overs) and Axar Patel (2/33 in 10 overs), seamers Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj each contributed one wicket. There were 118 runs scored in the last 20 overs.

At Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, Wellalage, a left-arm spinner of 21 years old, came to bat at number seven and hit an undefeated 67 after Sri Lanka lost to 101-5.

He formed crucial alliances, such as a 46-run eighth-wicket partnership with the 17-run Akila Dananjaya, to force the opposition bowlers, who had largely controlled the game, to bowl first.
