Following their triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, Team India has undergone numerous adjustments. Before the match, one of the major changes was already scheduled: Rahul Dravid was going to resign. Following the thrilling moment in Barbados where the match was won, two of the game’s greatest players, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, announced their retirement from Twenty20 international cricket. While many were shocked by the development, most also expected it.

There was uncertainty regarding Rohit’s replacement as captain in T20Is, with many pointing the finger at Hardik Pandya, the vice-captain of the T20 World Cup. Rohit remained captain in ODIs and Tests. However, the BCCI made the choice to select Suryakumar Yadav. Although no one anticipated this result, the 33-year-old satisfies every prerequisite for the captaincy position.

Additional topics of discussion have included who will start for India in T20Is after Rohit and Kohli. Most people would assume Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal in this situation. However, other openers like Sai Sudharsan and Abhishek Sharma will also be vying for the position.

In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, former India fielding coach and former player R Sridhar provided additional insight into how the Indian cricket team is beginning their new chapter and shared his thoughts on the main talking points.
